2012 May Luncheon

How Flathead Businesses Can  Save $14.5 Million
Luncheon will provide attendees with steps to reduce work comp costs

Workers’ compensation costs in Montana are among some of the highest in the America.  There are two ways to reduce these costs to employers: policy and practice.  Attendees will learn how the policy changes contained in House Bill 334 are bringing costs down for Montana businesses.  Attendees will also learn how to take action for their organizations both during and after this meeting that can lower workers’ compensation costs for their company.

Rep. Scott Reichner, sponsor of HB 334, will tell how policy changes made as a result of the bill he authored and managed through its signing into law resulted in the reduction of workers’ compensation premiums in Montana by an average of 20 percent.  Fred Miller, with Work Safe MT, will show specific steps businesses can take to create a safe work environment and lower their costs.  A national organization has estimate that Montana insurance premiums would be reduced by $145 million if the state were at the national average for workplace injury frequency.  Flathead County employees earn approximately ten percent of the wage income for the state.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops and their declaration pages of their work comp insurance plans with them to the meeting.  Immediately after the luncheon, a 30-minute workshop will begin for those interested in creating a Safety Plan.

This luncheon is sponsored by Montana State Fund (MSF).  MSF is Montana?s insurance carrier of choice and industry leader in customer service.   MSF is committed to the health and economic prosperity of Montana through superior service, leadership, and caring individuals working in an environment of teamwork, creativity and trust.
